8.9 - Intercept Procedures

Lesson Objective

During this lesson, the learner will learn how to respond to an intercepting aircraft.

Private Pilot Test Candidate: None

Content

• If you are ever intercepted, the intercepting aircraft will fly along side you and rock its wings.  
• Acknowledge by rocking your wings. 
• If a military aircraft does not rock its wings, you are not being intercepted.
• Contact ATC on 121.5 and give aircraft type, registration number, position. 
• If the intercepting aircraft overflies an airport and lowers its landing gear, you should land at the airport.
